Position Overview: The Ozark Trails Council is in Springfield Missouri and is the Queen City of the Ozarks. It is one of the most desirable places to live with affordable housing, and some of the best lakes and streams to fish in the world! Home of Bass Pro Shops and perfect for outdoor enthusiasts. We are looking for the right person for a growing area to serve a solid district that has FOS and membership growth.

Candidates for the District Director position will be the Chief Executive Officer of the Ozark Howler District. Serves as manager and operating officer of the district(s) and is responsible for the effective organization, operation, and promotion of the council program within the district(s). The position will supervise one staff member and is responsible for measurable achievements of the other staff supervised, as well as their own; responsible for the achievement of district objectives, including measurable goals. Works with the District Chairman and District Commissioner and their teams to fulfill their functions and facilitate the optimum collaboration between the district and the board.

Responsibilities

• Working with and supporting the District Nominating Committee, recruits, develops, and maintains effective volunteer management teams.
• Maintains a professional working climate that attracts, retains, and motivates top-quality volunteers.
• Assures the district achieves its mission and makes consistent progress.
• Assures that the flow of funds from the district helps the council to achieve its mission.
• Provides leadership and training to other staff in the council.
• The position will have key council assignments for professional growth and development.

Qualifications

• Ability to supervise staff utilizing effective back-dating and work scheduling.
• Proven FOS success and skills in community organization. Individual should understand the process to identify potential upper-level prospects and have the skill set to work with and support Council Board members to approach potential prospects.
• Effective in managing membership and new unit organization to achieve growth on a consistent basis with attention to retention of units and youth.
• Ability to manage functioning districts at a high level of operation and effectively utilize the annual nominating committee process.
• Prior experience in Scouting not limited to 3 years or more successful experience as a District Executive or Senior District Executive.
• Well-organized, detail-oriented, and polished staff leadership skills.
• Excellent analytic skills with a proven commitment to accuracy and timeliness.
• Must be able to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
• Must possess a focus on continuous improvement and growth, both within the organization and with self.
• A flexible schedule is frequently required for evening/weekend events.
• Team player, positive attitude, and willing to learn.
• Valid driver's license and ability to be insured.
• Seeking an individual who is professional in dress, well-spoken, and comfortable in social and networking settings.
• Strong interpersonal, written communication, and verbal presentation skills.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (transcript with the date degree conferred stated is required for employment).
