Scheduled Hours 37.5 Position Summary Reporting to the Executive Director, Networks and Innovation, the Director, Data Management and Analytics will define overall data management strategy, oversee design, implementation and maintenance of data and create annual work plans for IRN shared data services with metrics. Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Defines the overall data management strategy for the Innovation Research Networks, including data governance policies, data quality standards, and data architecture to ensure data integrity and accessibility. Works closely with IRN co-directors to understand their data needs and align data analytics initiatives with IRN research objectives. Ensures compliance with data privacy regulations and establishes processes to manage data access and security. Designs and delivers training programs and resources to facilitate a culture of mutual understanding and compliance across the IRNs.
  • Oversees the design, implementation, and maintenance of data warehouses, data lakes, and other data storage systems. Leads IRN-wide data-related projects from initiation to completion, including budgeting, resource allocation, and project timelines.
  • Prepares annual workplans for IRN shared data services, with milestones, metrics and associated budgets. Tracks and analyzes project metrics for evaluation and provides recommendations for improvements/efficiencies in the delivery of IRN shared data services.
  • Promotes a culture of high performance and continuous improvement. Establishes and monitors staff performance and professional development goals, conducts annual performance appraisals as required. Convenes and leads weekly meetings with data management, analytics and visualization core staff to align across all tasks, tracks status, develops/reassesses timelines and prioritizes activities.
  • Prepares quarterly progress/status reports for the Executive Director, Networks and Innovation and co-directors of each IRN, and other reports and presentations as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Information Technology or a related field.
  • Eight years of managerial experience in data management and analytics.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ten years or more experience working with multi-disciplinary research teams in a research-intensive university setting.
  • Experience working in public health research highly desirable.
  • Experience identifying and executing fit-for-purposes cloud-based data solutions using technologies like AWS, Azure, Data Bricks, Snowflake, or other AI/ML platforms like Dataiku.
  • Understands best practices across data lakes, data warehouses and data analytics.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, both in-person and virtually.
  • Ability to be effective in a fast-paced environment and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize changing needs and work under pressure.
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of autonomy, using strategic skills in staff planning, initiative, and problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop alliances and coordinate shared interests of all parties.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with different constituencies in the university and external public and private organizations.

Grade G16 Salary Range $96,000.00 - $169,300.00 / Annually
