A Database Administrator I, is responsible for the performance, integrity and security of the databases to support the computing environment. Under direct supervision, a Database Administrator I will work through day-to-day operational tasks related to the database systems. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Administer, support, and optimize on-premise Postgre. SQL databases (version 9 and above). Manage high availability configurations, backups, installations, and upgrades. Write and debug complex SQL queries and scripts; develop rollback and contingency plans. Work with connection poolers such as Pg. Bouncer and Pgpool to improve application-database efficiency. Respond to and resolve production issues during scheduled on-call shifts. Perform maintenance activities and support code deployments during off-hours (nights/weekends as needed). Track and manage tasks using a formal ticketing system.
