Job Details

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager in the Greater Springfield, Missouri area, to lead large-scale heavy civil construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This individual will oversee complex infrastructure work including highways, bridges, utilities, earthwork, and site development, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

This is a high-impact leadership role requiring strong operational expertise, client management skills, and the ability to mentor project teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of heavy civil construction projects valued at $20M+ from inception to completion
• Manage project budgets, schedules, and forecasting to ensure financial success
• Oversee project teams including Project Managers, Engineers, Superintendents, and subcontractors
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, owners, engineers, and key stakeholders
• Review and negotiate contracts, change orders, and subcontract agreements
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and quality control measures
• Drive project planning, scheduling (Primavera P6/MS Project), and risk management efforts
• Identify and resolve complex project challenges proactively
• Provide mentorship and leadership to junior staff, fostering team development
• Participate in preconstruction efforts including estimating, bid strategy, and value engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred)
• 7+ years of experience in heavy civil construction project management
• Proven track record managing large-scale infrastructure projects (DOT, municipal, or federal projects preferred)
• Strong knowledge of civil construction methods including grading, excavation, utilities, paving, and structures
• Experience managing budgets, schedules, and multi-disciplinary teams
• Proficiency with construction management software (Procore, Primavera P6, HCSS, etc.)
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
